HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Imagination Theatre was founded over four years
ago by two Girl Scouts and their troop, Troop 529 of
Saxapahaw, NC. Our first production was an original
concept by the co-founders. Admission was by
donation of medical supplies or cash that was then
used to purchase medical supplies. The supplies
were used by the troop to put together Emergency
Service medical supply kits. This helped fulfill
requirements for the troop's Bronze Award.
WHO WE ARE
I.T. has evolved to become a family theatre, featuring
wholesome, fun family productions. Our casts vary
by show and range from as young as four years old
to adults.
We are a volunteer group. Admission to our shows
is free. Donations are always accepted for a local
charity. Our productions would not be possible
without volunteers of all ages who are happy to wear
many hats, therefore we value a team spirit and
adaptability, coupled with a desire for community
service and involvement of the entire family.
WHO'S ON FIRST?
I.T.' s Volunteer Managing Director is Jean Hedrick.
She is a graduate of UNC-Greensboro with a
background in Broadcasting/Cinema,
Communication Studies, and Advertising. She is
currently working toward a Nonprofit Management
Certificate at UNC-G.
A lifelong lover of theatre, film, and entertainment.,
she is mom to Joan (12) and Joshua (4), and wife to
Jim, a family physician with Kernodle Clinic Elon.
She and Jim have been a part of the community for
over 20 years.
SPECIAL THANKS TO HOLY COMFORTER
Imagination Theatre has been fortunate to rehearse
and perform within the historical auditorium of Holy
Comforter Church. Holy Comforter is both a
founding church of Burlington and a vital partner in
today's downtown area. This beautiful English
Gothic landmark is a generous supporter of the arts
by allowing diverse groups to use its facilities,
including the Gallery Players, Alamance Children's
Theatre, and the Alamance Girls Choir.
